Meyrick ready for Nurburgring challenge - 2009-08-20

Andy Meyrick will take part in his fourth Le Mans Series race this weekend, as the Kolles LMP team head to Nurburgring for the penultimate race of the season.  The British LMS rookie is aiming for a strong outing in Germany following a difficult weekend at the Portimao circuit in Portugal earlier this month.

Although this will be Meyrick\'s first race in an LMP car at the Nurburgring, the MSA Race Elite driver has previous experience of the circuit in a historic F1 car, having raced there in 2008.  Still considered to be one of the best circuits in Europe, the 3.2 mile circuit, which sits inside the infamous Nordschleife forms the fourth round of the 2009 Le Mans Series.

Paired with former F1 driver Narain Karthikeyan and Charles Zwolsman, Meyrick has taken a season best result of sixth place, at the Spa-Francorchamps circuit in Belgium.

Last time out in Portimao, Meyrick\'s car qualified in 8th place, but while overtaking traffic during the race the number 14 car of Meyrick and the number 15 car of team mate Christian Bakkerud clashed, putting both cars out of contention.

Speaking about the last round of the season, Meyrick said, \"We had a really tough time in Portimao, but I learnt a lot from that experience and I think we\'re probably stronger as a team now.  I\'ve raced at the Nurburgring before, so I do have experience of the circuit, although obviously racing there in the R10 will be a completely different experience.

\"We\'ve shown some really good pace and had some exciting racing so far this season, so we\'re aiming to capitalise on that potential with a strong result at the Nurburgring.  It\'s a great circuit to race on, so I can\'t wait to get on track for the first time in the Audi R10 TDI.\"
